Soft Slab Construction: Hand building with Porcelain

  • forming the slab--discussion and demonstration of various slab making techniques, including wheel thrown, hand rolled and hand flung slabs, homemade paper clay slabs
  • decorating the flat surface--mishima, slip trailing, monoprinting, applied texture and images
  • from slab to vessel--forms without armatures, slumping/humping, foam/tissue paper armature, single use paper molds

On and Off the Wheel —using both wheel throwing and hand-building techniques to create multi-part forms.

Building Skill at the Wheel--exercises to improve throwing skill at any level.
